Flexible Facade Tile — Residential Building in Buiucani

A Practical Facade for Urban Life

Area.......................2000m2
Year ........................2024
A new residential building on a quiet street in Buiucani features sharp architectural lines, panoramic glazing, and projecting balconies. Light wall planes are intentionally set on a contrasting dark plinth: the entire ground floor and all contact zones with the street are clad with KORDEKO flexible facade tile.

Visually, the composition reads as a light upper volume on a solid, stone-like base. The stone texture with soft transitions remains expressive even on overcast days, and in the evening lighting it catches the relief, making the building recognizable from a distance.

Task:
The client needed a material for active urban zones—entrances, ramps, parking edges, and the lower facade along the sidewalk. Requirements included impact and salt resistance, a neat appearance after winter, the ability to wrap complex geometries (niches, reveals, balcony ribs), and fast installation without “wet” processes so interior works could continue without interruption.
What was done and why it works for the owner/developer:

  • Dark, practical plinth. Deep graphite tones are almost non-marking—splashes, reagents, and dust are barely visible; maintenance is reduced to water washing.
  • Relief that “handles” daily use. The texture masks minor chips and scratches in high-traffic areas near entrances and ramps
  • Long service life. The material is hydrophobic, does not absorb water, is designed for 200+ freeze–thaw cycles, and is UV-stable—color does not fade.
  • Ownership economy. No annual repainting or restoration. The building looks better over time, apartments sell faster, and the price per m² stays above average.

Result:
A facade that works in the city—attractive by day and practical in everyday operation.
