Required tools:
Primer roller
Spatula
Notched spatula 6 mm
Flat trowel
Ruler
Tape measure
Utility knife
Sponge
Color pigment and grout selection
The pigment is selected based on the stone color and glue type (white or gray).
Added to dry glue and mixed thoroughly.
Available colors: beige, gray, anthracite.
Formats:
Small (for 2 bags)
Large (for 5 to 10 bags)
Grout is used for final joint finishing:
Color is matched to the stone.
Prepared before use (do not mix the entire package at once).
Available in several colors and sizes:
Small (300 g)
Large (1 kg)
Surface preparation:
Clean walls from dust and dirt
Check surface flatness, cracks, and voids
Level the surface if needed
Apply primer for better adhesion
Glue selection
For light stone shades use white cement based glue (can be tinted).
For dark stone shades use gray cement based glue (can be tinted).
For facades use frost resistant glue.
Important! The glue consistency should be slightly thinner than standard tile glue for better adhesion.
Important:After applying concrete contact, the surface becomes rough, which improves glue adhesion.
Wall priming
Primer selection depending on surface type:
Absorbent surfaces – use deep penetration primer
Putty
Sandstone
Limestone
Low absorbent surfaces – concrete contact with quartz sand
Concrete
Metal
Plastic
Glass
Recommendations for facade surfaces made of OSB or sandwich panels
For installing Pletaflex flexible stone on facade surfaces made of OSB or sandwich panels, it is important to consider the specifics of these materials. They require additional preparation to ensure strong adhesion and long term durability of the cladding.
Important: This approach ensures reliable fixing of flexible stone and extends its service life on facade surfaces.
Step by step:
Priming:
Treat the surface with concrete contact primer for better adhesion.
Leveling:
If needed, use cement based glue to eliminate surface irregularities.
Reinforcement:
Apply fiberglass mesh to strengthen the base and prevent cracking.
Finishing:
Apply deep penetration primer. After complete drying, proceed with stone installation.
STAGES OF FLEXIBLE STONE INSTALLATION:
Glue application
Using a notched spatula (4 to 8 mm for smooth stone, 6 mm for textured).
2. Stone installation
Press firmly with a trowel to remove air.
3. Removing excess glue
Using water and a sponge.
4. Finishing
Quality control of the surface.
Tip: Work in pairs one applies the glue, the other installs the stone and removes excess.
Temperature conditions:
!
Follow the glue manufacturer recommendations.
!
Do not install in freezing conditions.
!
In hot weather, moisten the surface so the glue does not dry too quickly.
Common installation mistakes and how to fix them
Too thick or too thin glue layer
→
Apply an even layer using a notched spatula.
Poor surface preparation
→
Always clean and prime the surface.
Ignoring temperature conditions
→
Monitor air humidity and temperature during installation.
Minimal surface preparation – suitable for many types of bases
Ideal for complex surfaces – columns, arches, corners, uneven walls
Clean process – no dust or construction debris
Long lasting adhesion – resistant to external factors and loads
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Yes, flexible stone can be installed on plaster if the surface is properly prepared. It must be clean, dry, and primed for better glue adhesion.
It is recommended to use elastic cement based glue for interior and exterior use. For light shades use white cement glue, for dark shades use gray cement glue.
Yes, flexible stone installation does not require complex tools. By following the instructions, you can install it yourself, but for complex surfaces such as corners and arches it is better to contact specialists.
Maintenance of flexible stone is minimal. It is enough to periodically wash it with water and mild detergents, avoiding abrasive cleaning products.
Flexible stone installation time depends on the work volume and surface complexity. On average, one working day is enough to cover 15 to 25 square meters.
